Visiting the cemetery
Families and friends are welcome to visit the graves of their loved ones. The guidance below keeps the grounds quiet, orderly and sacred for everyone.
Visiting hours
7:00 am – 6:30 pm, seven days a week
A visiting permit is issued by authorised personnel at the gate.
Burial hours
8:00 am – 6:30 pm, seven days a week
Group visits should be arranged in advance with the office on +256 700 000 000.
Conduct while visiting
- Visiting is between 7:00 am – 6:30 pm, seven days a week, after obtaining a visiting permit from authorised personnel.
- Group visits should be booked with the office in advance.
- Extra quiet and order are expected on Fridays and other significant religious days.
- Dress modestly and keep conversation low out of respect for the deceased and other families.
- Do not litter or cause any disruption within the grounds.
Grave markers
- Grave markers must be modest and aligned with Islamic tradition.
- Materials, size and inscriptions follow the cemetery's guidance so that all graves remain uniform and dignified.
- Extravagant decorations on graves are not permitted.
Prohibited practices
These are not permitted anywhere within the cemetery grounds.
- Any burial rite or ceremony that contradicts the Islamic teachings of Ahl as-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah.
- Selling, advertising or any commercial activity within the cemetery, unless approved by the Administration Committee for fundraising.
- Loud conversation, indecent dress, disrespectful conduct or any nuisance that disturbs the peace of the cemetery.
- Animal sacrifice, and placing flowers, ornaments, artificial decorations or similar items on graves.
- Wilfully destroying, defacing or damaging graves, grave markers, trees, pathways or cemetery property.
- Unauthorised gatherings, entertainment or games on the cemetery premises.
